Sorting and Filtering your Aspects Register
This article will cover how to change the order of your Aspect rows, and filter which rows are visible within your Register in order to help with prioritisation and communication.
Please note that the Environmental Aspects Register is an optional add-on for the Environmental module. Please contact us if you would like to discuss including it in your subscription.
Sorting your Aspects Register

Once your Aspects Register is complete, you can sort the aspects in your register. You can do this manually by holding click and dragging the left-most column and moving the row up or down. The register order will save each time you drag and drop a row.

Alternatively, you can select the ‘Sort Order’ button. This will open a box called ‘Sort Order’.
Select the left-most box in the ‘Sort Order’ box. This will open a dropdown menu. Select how you would like your Register to be sorted.
Select the next box within the ‘Sort Order’ box. This will open a dropdown menu. Select how you would like the category to be ordered. For example:
- ‘Activity’, ‘Location/ Area’, ‘Environmental Aspect’, and ‘Lifecycle Stage’ can be sorted in alphabetical order (A-Z) or in reverse-alphabetical order (Z-A).
- ‘Level of Significance’ can be sorted from High - Low significance, or Low - High significance.
Finally, select ‘Apply and Save Sort Order’. You will now see your Register in the order you selected. Fine-tuning can then be achieved by using the method above.
Note: Sorting your Aspects Register (particularly using Level of Significance or Location/Area) can help you to prioritise. Generally, we would recommend addressing the highest significance aspects first to minimise risk and impact effectively.
Filtering your Aspects Register

Filtering is used to only display the aspects that match custom criteria. For example, you can use it to create smaller registers per Area / Department, as any filtered view will be reflected in the Export of an Aspects Register.
Click on the 'Filter' button to see the options.

The Filter panel will appear, and you can then filter by one, or a combination of these options. You do not have to select something from each column, if for example you only wanted to see every 'High' significance aspect.
Please note that if you have added a new item to your register, you will need to refresh the page before it appears within these lists.
- Level of Significance: Filter by one or more of these levels, or by any that still require calculating.
- Area / Department: Filter by one or more area or department. Useful for creating smaller registers to communicate within individual departments when used with the Export feature.
- Environmental Aspect: Filter by one or more aspect.
- Lifecycle Stage: Filter by one or more lifecycle stage.
- Control or Influence: Filter by Control or Influence.

When there are filters active, they will be displayed above the register. As well as unticking them from the boxes in the 'Filters' panel, you can use the 'X' to clear individual filters, or press 'Clear all' to remove them all. Refreshing the page, or leaving and returning to the register will also clear all filters.
Sorting your aspects will save the sort order when a change is made, and all users will see the order that you have set. Filtering does not carry between users or sessions, and can be reset by revisiting or refreshing the page.
